The Silent Auction Committee is a team of enthusiastic Sacramento Chapter members who gather to plan and conduct the Chapter's annual fundraiser. This ACTIVE committee begins planning about three months prior to this fun and wildly successful networking evening that raises much needed funds to support both our Chapter activities and the selected community outreach program.

Joint Education Conference and Tradeshow Team

The responsibility of the Joint Education Conference and Tradeshow Team is the planning and execution of this conference. For the second year this conference will be held in partnership with the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of SGMP. Trish Owen of Kimpton Hotels, will represent the San Francisco Chapter in the planning of this conference. It is anticipated that this conference will be held in January or February 2010.
The Team planning this conference will communicate via e-mail and/or by conference call.
Optional Activities Team

The Optional Activities Team is new this year. The goal of this team is to plan optional activities that will get people together for fun and networking. We may even raise some funds for the chapter while having a good time. Some of the activities this team is considering are a golf tournament, bowling, rafting, Bunco, wine tasting, and a cooking demonstration. Join the team and help us decide which activities we will coordinate for the year.

Communications Team

This committee is responsible for Chapter communications via email, upkeep and development of the Chapter web site, and management of the newsletter committee. We’ve added to this committee a member who will monitor the web site and help keep it up-to-date. This year we will greatly expand our online photo album. We will also aggressively follow up on bounced email communications to make sure that we are reaching all members with information about Chapter events and initiatives.
Newsletter Team

The PonyXpress newsletter committee is responsible for recruiting authors of articles, editing and proof reading, taking pictures during Chapter meetings, and publishing the Chapter newsletter. This year a minor re-design will be undertaken, and work toward that goal has already begun.
Marketing & Outreach (formerly Membership Team)

The Membership Team consists of three key components: Recruitment/Marketing, Retention and Member Development. These components are essential to the success of our chapter. As a member of SGMP, we hope that you will do your part in letting other government meeting professionals know the importance of joining our organization. We are always looking for committee members to help with one of our “key components.”
Recruitment/Marketing:

This sub-committee is committed to recruiting new members
- Maintains an information booth at industry tradeshows
- Organizes and conducts membership drive
- Outreach to other organizations promoting SGMP and the benefits to them
Retention:

This sub-committee will ensure continued membership and participation of current members through consistent outreach programs.
- Makes renewal calls/emails and follows up on dropped members
- Seeks out and implements membership needs and concerns
New Member Development:

This sub-committee will help educate new members about SGMP, as well as, help them become more active by making them feel welcome in our Chapter.
- Introduces new members to current members at monthly meetings
- Organizes and conducts new member orientation

Program Team

This committee is responsible for planning and coordinating our chapter’s monthly program meetings. Specific duties include developing topics and program content, suggesting and recruiting speakers, and handling logistics for our meetings.
We want each member to grow professionally and show their bosses’ that SGMP is a valuable, educational opportunity that is a huge benefit and can help them do a better job in their workplace.
If you want to get involved, get to know people, and help shape our monthly meetings, then this committee is for you!
