Welcome to the Sacramento Chapter of SGMP's Website!!! SGMP is the only organization focusing exclusively on the needs in the government meeting planning industry. We are the second largest chapter of SGMP in the nation and our members span the State of California, many of whom are employed by federal, state, county, and city government agencies. We maintain a ratio of over 50 percent meeting planners to suppliers. Our supplier members represent the hotel industry, convention and visitor bureaus, audio visual companies, airlines, and other meeting-related industries dedicated to providing the resources meeting planners needs to excel at their jobs.
The Sacramento Chapter offers a wide variety of educational training through monthly programs, as well as our Joint Annual Education Conference & Tradeshow. Also of great value is the National Education Conference; to be held next year in New Orleans, Louisiana from May 16–19, 2012. Some of our education topics include, but are far from limited to, government ethics, budgeting for meetings, site selection techniques, contracting and negotiating skills, on-site meeting management, government travel dos and don'ts, understanding the government market, communication skills, meeting planning skills for the novice and advanced, green meetings, FEMA requirements, ADA requirements, leadership development, crisis management, risk management, etiquette, etc.
